And we jump right into the 80s, a dark half lit club maybe in Berlin or New Your or Liverpool with this retro sounding electropop single from Gweilo. The falsetto vocals immediately begin comparisons with the Communards but its a slower more enticing dance beat presented here. The wistfulness of the track (it describes the death of a close family member) and the retro keyboards and drum sounds meld together to create a song that lives in the head after hearing it.
Despite the subject matter the song itself sounds optimistic and the melodies soar above rather than flounder below the subject matter.
