Supporting To he Molotovs were Indie youngsters Garage Flowers who were trying so hard in every way to be Oasis wannabes. They sounded good in what they did but it wasn’t my cup of tea with sweary intro’s on every song.
The Molotovs on the other hand were very stylish in their approach in the sound check and main gig. The tour was in support of their new album “Welcome to Urbia”.
Matt looking more like Sting in looks and Paul Weller in dress sense in his Style Council days. New single Urbia, it’s B-Side Down at the cafe got an airing as did fan favourites get a life, More More More, Daydreaming and Geraldine.
You could hear big hints of Bruce Foxton’s bass riffs in Issey’s bass playing and Matt jumping up like Paul Weller whilst playing. The sold out venue went crazy on the two tracks but the highlight for me was the two acoustic tracks by Matt in the encore; “The man who could never be” and “Nothing Keeps away”. Overall a good gig and these youngsters should be around for a long time.
The Molotovs are Noah on Drums and backing vocals, Issey on bass and backing vocals and Matt on lead and acoustic guitar and vocals.
