I’ve not been to the newish Rough Trade Venue before. It’s upstairs from the shop and is a largish room with good PA and lights and a separate bar area. A big stage sits at the far end and as we walk in the delightfully named Moth Slut are ripping it up. A gothic/Industrial duo with more than a hint of Sisters of Mercy about them. Immaculately dressed and highly mobile they are truly entertaining.
Toria and the Terror also have a hint of metal about them as well as their obvious gothic horror punk vibe. Quality musicianship all round and a front person who commands the stage. There’s something extra going on with this band, something thats difficult to get a finger on, oh yeah, thats it, they are really really good.

Zombina have been around a while and it shows as they effortlessly stomp through songs old and new, sounding tight as ever and throwing in light relief banter between songs. They ask if the sound is ok and the audience respond with ‘more saxaphone’, this does make a difference and the engineer is on it. A good sounding band veering from pop punk to more 50s rock n roll sounds, playing to a packed house and bringing in the halloweenesque party vibe. Enjoyable all round.
