Anja Huwe former lead singer of Xmal Deutschland was supporting the Psychedelic Furs on there mini UK tour It’s been along time since I last saw them 83! 84 in Liverpool.
All dressed in black she kicked off her set with Boomerang and straight into Geheimnis, Pariah, all off the 1983 album Fetisch. New songs and new versions on her new album Codes 2024 followed Pariah, Rabenscwarz. Sleep with one eye open,. The biggest cheer came for Incubus Succubus when she introduced it as its the perfect venue to play it as the Albert was previously a church.
The Psychedelic Furs started off with the 1984 single Heaven. Followed by my personal fave President gas off the album Forever Now. Wrong Train off Made of Rain came next with lead guitarist Rich Good and Bassist Tim Butler swapping sides so each side of the crowd got to see them. Singer Richard butler doing the same and going down stooping down. On the monitor. The slower keyboard inspired The ghost In you.off the 4th studio album Mirror Moves. Another track off Made of Rain “The boy that invented rock and roll”. The tracks came thick and fast Mr Jones off Talk Talk Talk,, My time off Mirror moves in to No one off Made of Rain.
Another keyboard orientated single Love my way paved the way into in my head, run and run and Until she comes There anthem Pretty in Pink from Talk Talk Talk which came good after it was included in the soundtrack of the film of the same name in 1986 even though it was on the album in 1981.They finished the opening set with Heartbreak beat from the album Midnight yo Midnight. After a couple of minutes respite they came back on to play It goes on off the Talk Talk Talk And finished off with the heavy bass sounding India off the debut album The Psychedelic Furs.. A very good and enjoyable night with two bands both on top of their game.
