The Lotts are no longer new kids on the block, they’ve been around since about 2018. They’ve held on to their angry subsonic Stooges riffology and overall punkishness but with added experience. They can bounce around when they want to and there’s some varying of their style to keep interest from waning. Overall its a competent well played set that we get at St Marys. Likeable and somewhat fun.

The main event is gearing up, equipment is moving around and then The Courettes are on the stage. This is a mighty sound for two people to produce. Some bands can get lost in a Church atmosphere with accumulations of reverb washing their sound out but this plays to the full Spector wall of sound that is a signature of The Courettes. This wash of noise combined with garage guitar riffs and a romp through the 60s and with a truly energetic vocal performance combines to make this one of the more fun gigs I’ve been to in a long time. Genuine fun, wanna dance type fun. We get over an hour of superb musicianship and great songs from the duo and at the end they get a full on standing ovation with cheers that go on for a long time.
