Gig Review: Suede and Bloodworm – Mountford Hall Liverpool – 06 February 2026

Words and Photos: Steve Watson

Promoting last years Antidepressants album Suede hit Liverpool with Bloodworm supporting.

Bloodworm a 3 piece postpunk/goth band from Nottingham. They sound like a very bass oriented The Cure.Bloodlust and Cemetery Dance are the two highlight tracks for me from a short but sweet set.

SUEDE; as soon the opening bars of Disintegrate started Brett had the crowd in the palm of his hands. He owned the stage, he owned the crowd. Jumping around the stage and climbing on the barriers like a teenager. We were privileged to hear a variety of tracks from various albums and singles We are the Pigs, Filmstar, Trash, Electricity, Beautiful Ones and newer singles Antidepressants, A new track Tribe was dedicated to all the different fanclubs and all fans and Suedeheads.

A piano orchestrated Asphalt World with Neil Codling tinkling the electric keys.Only marred by somebody shouting half way through! At one point Brett asked a young fan when she was born and she replied 2020 and he replied this song was out before you were born and to following track you were only three when it was released . A totally enjoyable gig, both bands on fire and if get the chance to see Bloodworm I recommend you do as they are embarking on a mini tour soon. Sued obviously still masters of their art.
