GIG REVIEW: Fish – Farewell too the Isles Tour – Philharmonic Hall Liverpool – Wednesday 05 March 25

Words and Photos: Steve Watson

The grand finale of FISH in Liverpool didn’t disappoint. Fish selected choice cuts and album tracks not normally performed live. He was on fire with his quick wit when somebody shouted for Grendel his quick reply ” You must have come late! We have already payed it”

A duet with backing vocalist Elisabeth Antwi ‘Just Good Freinds ‘ was my stand out song of the night but Credo/A Gentleman’s Excuse Me were also notable. Marillion tracks Kayleigh / Lavender and Heart of Lothian were played as a medley and were of an equally high standard.

Six tracks from Plague of God’s were done as well as Fugazi’s Another Encore. The only disappointment was it was a seated gig and you could feel the audience wanted to get and move, to shuffle have a dance. Only when FISH said get up to Long Cold Day did everybody get up and but sadly as soon as the track finished everybody sat back down. Cliche was dedicated a couple who got married in the morning and and didn’t want to miss the concert. Overall I would give it an 9 out of 10 Losing 1 due to the lack of atmosphere due to it being a seated gig.
