In some ways its a shame Irene and Co are still only a duo, but it doesn’t limit their lush vocal harmonies and dreamy swirl of double guitar melody that floats around them. With some backing tracks they produce the rather fantastic full shimmer of noise and wash of pop they always did.
Yee Loi, they are school kids, they are two sisters and a brother, they do punked up rock stuff, what! They say this is their third gig, they seem very proficient if it is. There’s Ramones meets Clash originals and covers aplenty including a rocked up Johnny Cash moment and a ‘Has anyone heard of Elvis Presley?’ moment that made me feel even older than I am. Yee Loi should go far.

Chime School produce a jangly pop filled with Byrds sounds via Teenage Fanclub with almost a Crosby Stills and Nash level of harmony. It’s the project of Seablite drummer Andy Pastalaniec, here on 12 string electric guitar. Whilst never hitting full on pop song singalong levels its pleasant, low key in some ways and insidiously good at getting into the audiences head and washing away other considerations for the duration of their set.
