Gig Review: The Loveless and Edgar Jones DJ set – Jacaranda Baltic – 12 December 2025

Edgar Jones opened proceedings with varied selection of Northern Soul classics and a classic from Shirley Bassey (the only singer I could recognise)!
The Loveless are on a mini tour taking in Leeds ,Liverpool, Hebden Bridge and the 100 Club in London. The Soft Cell / Sigue Sigue Sputnik combo of Marc Almond and Neal X delivered a varied glam rock, punk psychobilly set of original material including Wild In The Streets, Pills, Night of the Hunter, and some covers from Alice Cooper ,The Sweet,The Kinks, T Rex and Marc Bolan. Including Hellraiser, I’m not like anybody else, 20th Century Boy, Christmas Bop. They threw in Soft Cells Sex Dwarf and Sigue Sigue Sputnik’s Love Missile F1-11 (sung by Neal X).
A great night was had even though it’s not my favourite venue in Liverpool. From the banter/ interaction between the crowd and Marc and between the band members you could see they were enjoying being on stage. Even the blip when he forgot his lines and pulled the cable out of his mic did not stop it being a good little school night gig.
