Liverpool based Shrewsbury born Thom opened up the nights music .An acoustic folk singer and he sounded really good with an effortless and introspected set of songs that warm the audience easily. Pity some of the crowd kept on talking through his set. Thom started his set with ” Like a Did. and continued with tracks off his albums.Daisy was a song about being drunk and having a few drinks. Before playing. Pride Hall which is based on time living in Shrewsbury. A short acoustic set by an accomplished musician.

The crowd was a mixture of age ranges but even the youngest were singing all the lyrics to XTC songs and some of their biggest hits. Their parents ere commended from the stage by Terry Lines. For having great taste in music.

EXTC .With original drummer Terry Chambers behind the drum kit ,and with Terry Lines taking over lead vocals after last singer Steve leaving to go to back to his other musical love country music. With local keyboardist/guitarist Karl Lornie from New Brighton and making his live ExTC debut and Nigel on guitar who’d only been with band a week and learning the tracks was quite an achievement .This Is Pop ,Mayor of Simpleton. Sgt Rock ,Making plans for Nigel, and all of the classics were played with the crowd all singing along with the choruses. At the Hop ended a good night and I can’t wait to see them again in April back at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.
